Solar dos Frades
The palaces D. Diogo Maldonado Passanha, an old manor house built in the 18th century and the Palacete de João Carlos Infante Passanha, an old manor house built between the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, located in the center of the village of Ferreira do Alentejo, in Portugal, were built by an influential family from Ferreira do Alentejo, its interior was modified several times throughout history, becoming occupied by a prison and a college, having at that time received the popular name of Solar dos Frades.
Some interior rooms were decorated with murals, probably executed by João Eloy Amaral.
At the end of the 20th century or the beginning of the 21st century, restoration works were carried out and both buildings were adapted into a guesthouse tourism unit, together forming the Solar dos Frades tourism unit.
