The word “Noudar” means control and surveillance of the territory. And it is between the Múrtega stream and the Ardila river, in the middle of the Alentejo borderlands and with a privileged view, where the Noudar castle is located, which was built in 1307 during the reign of King Dinis. This site has had continuous human occupation since the Chalcolithic, including testimonies of the Arab presence, and led to the foundation of the settlement that later moved to Barrancos. This visit includes a tour of Noudar Castle and some megalithic monuments in the Noudar Nature Park.
